Interstellar travel would basically have to render distance irrelevant. The point at which any livable planet would become worth reaching would probably make life far more common, considering how much space opens up at that point.

Any life form capable of this technology would be so advanced that stopping by to check us out would be like pulling over during a road trip to check out a roach. They might even know we’re here, we’re just not that interesting.
